While marijuana offers pain relief, it also has its downsides like any other medication. Among the negative effects of using marijuana are experiencing mood swings, changes in the way a person senses things, struggling to think clearly, and awkward movement. Some studies showed that cannabis users may suffer from impotence while other studies have contradictory findings. Hence, there is no strong proof to connect impotence and chemical substances in marijuana ingested through smoking or consumption of marijuana gummies, candies, and other edibles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marijuana use among men may increase the risk of having problems getting an erection and maintaining it. Some research studies have shown that marijuana may affect a man\u2019s sexual performance. Yet, evidence is lacking to conclude that erectile dysfunction and marijuana use are related.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

People who oppose the use of marijuana have pointed out that it reduces a man’s libido and makes him impotent. On the other hand, marijuana users attest that they tend to be more aroused and enjoy sex when they are high on marijuana. In addition, some users attest that smoking cannabis or eating gummies or candies that contain high THC levels can result in sexual arousal and a more enjoyable sexual experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, there is no concrete evidence that all weed smokers enjoy great pleasure in having sex. Studies conducted are not enough to prove that there is a positive relationship between marijuana use and sex or otherwise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Below are some unproven claims regarding the effects of cannabis on sex.<\/span><\/p>\n

A 2019 report in the Journal for Sexual Medicine stated that women who smoke marijuana before sexual intercourse experience intense arousal and orgasm. Furthermore, after using marijuana, women who experienced discomfort or pain during sex had allegedly found it pleasurable. They reported that they are not reluctant to have sex anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0A 2017 study was conducted on 50,000 men and women regarding the effect of marijuana on sex. Results revealed that contrary to what many people claim, respondents said that they did not experience any sexual issues in using marijuana. They said that they did not have impotence or erectile dysfunction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since a link was not established between marijuana use and impairment of sexual function, further study on the topic was recommended.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Marijuana use has other side effects aside from sexual issues. One side effect of smoking marijuana is rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure. Men and women with these two conditions may risk having a stroke or a heart attack when they engage in sex.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, marijuana use may help decrease cholesterol. Findings in a 2013 study conducted on mice revealed that damage to the cardiovascular system caused by cholesterol can be prevented through the use of marijuana. Yet, since the subjects of this study were mice, it still has to be tested on humans<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, several research studies have been conducted to find out if impotence or sexual dysfunction is an outcome of smoking marijuana. Because some chemicals from marijuana remain in the body, there is a big chance for one to suffer impaired sexual performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

For instance, researchers noted that chemicals from weed can activate nerve receptors in the penal tissues.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
